Walk In Bath: Enjoy a Bath at Any Age

Most people enjoy taking a warm bath.  It is a great way to relax and forget all of the stresses of everyday life while getting clean.  When you are young, you take for granted how easy it is to get into the bathtub, but as one gets older, it becomes increasingly difficult to get in and out of the bathtub.  Handrails can sometimes help, but eventually it becomes nearly impossible to get in and out of a tub on your own.  Fortunately, getting into a bathtub can be relatively easy at any age if you use a walk in bath.

One of the biggest complaints that seniors and people with decreased mobility make with respect to bath tubs is that they are hard to get in and out of.  It can be very difficult to go from a standing position to basically sitting on the floor.  The difficulty is more severe when trying to get out of the tub since it is wet and slippery.  Unfortunately many people are injured each and every year in their bathroom when they slip while trying to exit the tub.

Most bath related injuries occur when the individual tries to get in or out of the tub.  Bathtubs are usually quite slippery (especially when wet) and can make it difficult to stay out of harm’s way.  There are some products on the market like non-slip mats that can be placed on the floor of the tub, but in most cases they are ineffective at preventing most injuries. This is where a walk in bath comes in.

Most people who start to have difficulties getting into and out of the bath install handrails in strategic locations to give them something to hold onto in the tub.  They are usually metal rods screwed into the wall and are very helpful if you need to have something to grab onto to pull yourself up, or help you sit down.  But they are not always reliable and there have been accidents where people have actually pulled them out of the wall.  Though they may help, they are not the best solution.

Ideally, one would like to have a way to have a bath without having all the challenges associated with trying to stand up in a wet tub, or sit down close to the floor.  Since most people can sit reasonably well at any age, there have been many models of walk in tubs created to suit one’s bathing needs.

The idea behind a walk in tub is that you can still enjoy the feeling of sitting in the bathtub without having to face all the challenges a typical tub presents.  Quite simply, you would walk into the tub, sit down and close the door.  Add some water from the easy to reach taps, and you can enjoy a warm bath with ease.  When you are done, it is as simple as draining the water, opening the door and walking out of the tub.  How is that for easy?

These tubs can be installed in any bathroom and can free up the space that a typical tub takes up.  With the extra room, you can even put shelves in the bathroom with towels to make your bathing experience that much easier.  Irrespective of your age or mobility, they allow you to have a bath safely and easily.

There are many challenges and changes that one faces as they get older and taking a bath safely is one of them.  Many people are injured each and every year trying to get in and out of a traditional bathtub.  But a walk in bath provides a safe and easy way to enjoy a bath without the fear of being injured.  They are easy to install in any bathroom and are perfect no matter what your age.  They make taking a bath something everyone can enjoy.
