| Walk In Tubs Are Essential for Homes with Elderly Residents |
| It’s an old cliché that the bathroom is the most dangerous room in the home, but it’s a true one, nonetheless. No matter how many safety bars and non-skid mats you install, it can still be perilous for elders to enter and leave a bathtub. But, with a walk in tubs, they are assured of their safety when they enter and exit the tub. It can be difficult for many elders to use a shower, especially if they have weak legs or balance problems. A shower chair can solve some of those problems, but there is nothing like being able to soak in a nice warm tub. You don’t have to have old bones to appreciate that, so you can imagine how soothing a hot tub must feel to an elderly person with arthritis, sciatica or some other painful joint problem. Sometimes heat is the best remedy for the body’s aches and pains, better than any relief pharmaceuticals can provide. That’s why it’s so important to provide an environment where your elders or infirm relatives can get that relief safely, and you don’t have to worry about them falling or injuring themselves. If you have elders in your home, a walk in bathtub should be a must.
Contrary to what you might think, walk in tubs aren’t that expensive, nor are they that difficult to install. You might have to spend a day remodeling your bathroom, but you’ll have that special tub installed with surprising ease. The best ones come with really excellent watertight doors so you don’t have to worry about cleaning up sopping wet floors either. The best ones have doors that won’t even open until the water level in the tub is below the edge of the door anyway.
Even if you’re not that concerned about installing walk in tubs with a side door right now, you may have to think about it soon. America’s population is aging. Despite their good vibes and youthful attitudes, many of America’s Baby Boomers (the biggest generation of Americans in history, by the way) will soon be in their 60s and are healthy enough that they’ll be around for decades to come. That means that their children will probably be charged with at least some of their parents’ care in their old age. Therefore, it only makes sense to install a special tub for potential elders and infirm family members in at least one of the bathrooms in the home.
Really, it’s also a good investment to install walk in tubs in your home, even if you don’t have any infirm relatives that might live with you. As America’s population ages, a tub that an elder can easily use could very well be a good selling point for a home. You may not need one right now, but it’s a good idea to look into these kinds of tubs to find out how expensive they really are, which manufacturers are rated the best, and just how long it takes to install one. Remember, the informed consumer is the best consumer, no matter what product is being bought. Plumbing products can run into a lot of money, but be sure that you get the very best value for the money. Sure, you could buy the most expensive sidewall tub on the market, but it’s not necessarily the best one. As with any major cash outlay, consider your options carefully, seek the opinions of experts, and always go for the best value for money. Just remember, whatever options you go with, you’re adding to the value of your home, so definitely go for the quality. |
