| Which Home Sauna Kit is the Best for You? |
| When it comes to home relaxation therapy, there are a number of options for you to choose from. There’s hot stone therapy, whirlpools and hot tubs, and maybe even a fancy rain shower. But are these really delivering the kind of benefits you’re looking for, or more importantly, that you’re paying for? A home sauna kit can be an affordable and beneficial solution, but not all saunas are created equal, and some are better suited to different needs and requirements than others.
There are three main kinds of saunas that you can use. There are hot rock saunas, steam saunas, and sunlight infrared saunas. Hot rock saunas use superheated stones to give off a dry heat that fills the room, steam saunas obviously produce a large amount of steam to deliver the desired heat, and infrared saunas use infrared rays. These rays are the same kind that the sun emits, to mimic the heat and effects of the sun inside your home sauna kit. All three deliver heat therapy and all three can be set up and installed inside your home, but that is roughly where the similarities end.
Steam saunas and hot rock saunas can produce significant amounts of trouble and unexpected cost and effort for the home owner because they were never really designed for home use. Steam saunas have been around since Ancient Greece, but always in large, communal environments made of stone and cement, both non-porous materials. The greatest hazard of both of these saunas is the steam (hot rock saunas still produce steam in order to be palatable to human skin) that your house isn’t designed to handle. Think of it like taking an extra fifteen showers per day; the steam leeches out into your ceiling, doors and door jambs, windowsills and floors, all of which are typically wood and swell with the steam, then warp when it evaporates.
In addition to this, steam can collect in your ceiling and fans and create mold and mildew which is very dangerous for your lungs. Furthermore, consider that both set ups require extensive amounts of time, are permanent installations, need close to an hour to be ready for use, and can actually double your power bill.
Infrared saunas, however, are a different type of home sauna kit that produce heat without steam by mimicking the suns rays. These infrared rays also provide the benefits to be had from sun exposure, only without the damaging ultraviolet rays. This infrared heat can aid pain relief, circulation, weight loss and cellulite removal.
Even the way you sweat inside an infrared sauna is different; studies show that your sweat contains up to 20% toxins, as opposed to an estimated 3% in a traditional sauna. This means that rather than doing crazy cranberry juice diets or radical cleanses to rid your body of excess toxins, stepping into an infrared sauna will take care of the toxins for you, leaving your body and mind healthier when you come out than when you stepped in.
While it’s true that some people just like their steam saunas, if you’re considering investing in a home sauna kit, you owe it to your health and your home to investigate an infrared option. We all know that the sun can improve your mood, make you feel better, happier, and stronger, but we have also come to fear the damage that ultraviolet light can do to our skin and bodies. When choosing a home sauna kit, remember that you can have steam, or you can have the power of the sun in your home providing additional benefits. |
